Risks in working in 1099 on EAD?

Hi Friends,

It is a well known fact that we can earn more in a 1099 contract than a W-2 contract? But what would be the risks from a immigration perspective for a primary Adjustment of Status applicant (EAD holder) to accept a 1099 employment?

Is it true if USCIS were to issue an RFE to verify employment, we might be considered as a 'likely to become a public charge' since we would'nt have an external employer in 1099? I believe this is an important factor and can cause a denial. Is this a legitimate and valid (and likely) risk?
