L1A in process, H1B new application dilemma.. Pl help

Dear Experts,

My L1B visa and I-94 are expiring on Jul-5th-2012, My company filed L1A conversion for me on May-1st-2012. Now, another company is ready to file H1B for me. I have the following questions:

1. What if H1B decision comes before L1A, will the last action rule apply since it's a fresh H1B application?

2. What should I do to continue working till Oct-2012 with my present employer as my L1B visa is expiring on Jul-5th and I cannot withdraw my L1A but I want to work on H1B from Oct-2012 onwards?

I need to make a decision soon about applying for premium or standar H1B, so any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
