ram_ravalkol
My H1 VISA STAMP expired in December 2011 and the petition for H1 renewal got approved for 2 years recently. Can you please let me know if I can go to Mexico for re-issuance of H1 visa? I am planning on getting an appointment at Merida consulate. Please see below for more details of the case. 1. Came to US on F1 visa in January 2002. 2. Changed to H1 status in Dec 2005. 3. First H1 visa was issued in Feb 2007 from US Consulate in Canada. 4. H1 (second) renewal visa issued in Dec 2009 from US Consulate in home country. 5. H1 petition for third renewal approved in Jan 2012. I have been working with the same company since beginning. Do I need to have valid visa to go to stamping in Mexico. I really appreciate any response on this. Thanks Link to comment

ram_ravalkol
Thanks Chitown01 and rontala for your response. I guess phrased my question incorrectly. Can we get H1 visa renewed in Mexico only if the US visa is valid? My US visa expired in Dec 2011. Thanks Link to comment
madhu99
As long as you have valid unexpired H1 visa,u need not need mexican visa. If your H1 visa has expired u need to get mexican visa. Link to comment
