US citizen spouse green card process

I am US Citizen and about to marry a person who is in L1 work status. His L1 valid till mid next year. I would like to know

1. whether we can file I-130 and I-485 together ?

2. if so, what is the average time it takes to get him green card ? Will it be earlier than his L1 expiry date (June 2012)if I file in August this year?

3. Can he continue to stay in US and continue to work once I filed the I-485 and I-130 though his L1 expires next year (incase if the green card process goes beyond June next year which is his L1 expiry date)? or he has to wait till I-130 and I-485 to get approved before his L1 expiry?

You can file both I-130 and I-485 together. In my experience I-130 was approved in 4-5 months but I-485 took another 6 months. I think you can apply for I-765 Work authorization (EAD) and that is typically approved in 3-4 months. You can file all three application together (I-130, I-485, I-765).
