Student Visa required while COS from F2 to H4 is awaited in October

Hi,

I am presently on F2 in the US and undergoing COS from F2 to H4. I have a admit from a US university and need F1 visa. I have the following queries:

1. Can I travel to my home country to get F1 visa if my COS is pending? Is it advisable to do so or should I wait for H4 to be approved and then go for my F1

2. What happens if I travel to my home country and my F1 doesn't get approved? Will I be able to come back to the US? Will my H4 petition will also be cancelled if I travel during this time?
