OPT approved before withdrawal request could be processed. What happens now?

I had applied for post completion OPT end of September. Due to some reasons I wanted to withdraw the opt application. I sent a withdrawal request to USCIS which was delivered on Nov 2. Same day my OPT was approved as well. I have since received my approval notice as well as EAD card.

I was wondering what are the regulations regarding withdrawing OPT application? I have read online that it USCIS won't allow withdrawal after OPT is approved?

Now that I have approved OPT, I actually don't want to lose it. I only have PhD thesis requirement left which I can complete while being on OPT. Is there any way I can just keep the current authorized OPT?
