Furlough - L1 with approved I-140

Recommended Posts

I am on an L1-A Visa. However, I have applied independently (not through my company) for permanent residency and I have an approved I-140 (EB-1). I have years to go before I get a green card. But my question is does the proposed furlough of a day per week for the next 10 weeks have any bearing on my green card application? Would you recommend transferring from L-1 to O-1?

I am fine with the furlough and as such I don’t want to switch to O-1 status since it will affect my wife’s ability to work. I would like for her to keep that option open as long as possible.

Any advice here would be helpful.
