Hi,

I have an approved Canadian PR and recently also got my H1B approved. I am planning to fly into Canada and do both the processes together i.e. get my PR card made and also get my H1B (first time) stamped.

Has anybody done this and can share their experiences. What I go for US visa stamping with my landing papers ?

I also read that they waive off the visa fees for PR holders, is that true ?

Lastly what documents would I need.

Any insights into the process will help.

Thank you.

I dont think there is an issue with doing both together. Just double check what the consulate wants as proof of Canadian residence. I believe your Confirmation of Permanent Residence should work. Regarding waiving fees, I have never heard of anyone waiving any visa fees for whatever reason. If at all, they only charge more in terms of reciprocity fees as well. Good luck with this!!!

All the documents that you would normally take without being a Canadian PR are still required. Just because you are a Canadian PR doesnt get you any additional rights/reductions in paperwork. All it does it makes it easier to travel to Canada without needing a visa.

Hope this helps.
