Clarification on H1B and B1

Hi,

Scenario-1:

I have applied for H1B last year by April 2018 and my case was picked in the lottery and I received the receipt notice by May 9th 2018. Its been over 8 months and I haven't received any update and stil the status shows as case was received.

 

Scenario-2:

I made a job change in India 2 weeks back and now the current employer is initiating for B1. So my question is whether we can apply for B1 from new employer ? or Do i need to inform them about my H1B Case status and wait since H1B was applied by another employer!

 

Please advise!
