Where to return I-94 on I-797 A?

Hello,

I recently got my H-1B approved and am traveling abroad. It is mentioned on I-797 A that I must detach and return a portion of I-94 present on the I-797A to US CBP while departing the country. How do I get in touch with them? Is it during the security check that I return it? Please advise.

You hand it to the airline personnel when you check in for your flight.

You can give it to airline personnel but they will throw it in a dump most probably(I have seen that). Your departure is electronically recorded against passport used. Today , you don't have to give it to anyone and just depart the country.
