akkinenia
I want to go to India or Canada to get my first H1B stamping after my F1. Which location is the safe, India or Canada? If Canada, can anyone explain me the process to apply there? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
Breesus
Canada is a safer option but prepare for the worst. 1. Apply Canada visitor visa online https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/apply-visitor-visa.html upload all the required documents and once it is approved all next steps are communicated to you 2. Fill the DS-160 and submit. Create a us visa account using the below. You need to provide DS-160 details to create the account. https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/users/sign_in Scheduling and tracking done using the above account Link to comment
Chicagom34
All consulates are the same. They use the same information. Home country is always a safe option. Link to comment

gbc6417
I believe you have to go to your home country if you are changing status (F1 to H1b here). Going to a third country is only an option if you are not changing your status. Also it is better to go to india in case you get a 221g which is common for applicants switching from F1 to H1b. Canada is far better in most cases. if 221g issues in india there is no time line. as for canada , it takes 1 week to 4 weeks max for 221g to be cleared. so i recomend canada Link to comment
