H1 to H4 ???

Hi,

I am currently on H1-B valid till May 2019 and then can be extended till Sep 2019 which means 1 year from now I can still work. Since my green card process has not been started I want to switch to H4-EAD.

1) In this current scenario please help me to decide if it is worth to switch to H4-EAD now or wait for next year and start processing?

2) Also if I start applying now what is the earliest way of getting H4-EAD??

The H4 EAD may not be around for much longer. The current administration wants to cancel that.
