Traveling to India in october - Visa expiring on dec 17th 2017- Applied for extension

Need some suggestions based on experience...

I am planning to go to Hyderabad for stamping in October. My H1b expires in May 30 2018.

My wife who is traveling with me has a valid stamp till dec 17 2017. Her extension has been filed last month. Is it advisable for us to travel without expecting any hiccups out of the ordinary? With little time left on her visa and extension underway.

Please share any experiences you may have.
