amv
Hi, I am currently on F1-OPT status and my spouse is on F-2 status with validity till 'D/S' (Duration of status). As I am eligible to apply for OPT STEM extension, I plan to apply for it. Though I am not sure if my spouse is also required to apply for F-2 extension with new dependent I-20 using I-539 form and other supporting documentation. I would appreciate if someone could provide with genuine reply in this regards. Thank you in advance! Link to comment
JoeF
Nothing needs to be done for the F2. Link to comment
Attorney_21
amv: Your spouse does not need to file anything with USCIS. The F-2's status is tied to the F-1's status, so as long as you receive your OPT extension, your spouse will be in valid F-2 status. If your spouse needs to travel or apply for a visa "Stamp", you will need to request a dependent I-20 from your school's DSO for that purpose. Link to comment
