Will original payrolls ever be required?

My employer used to provide paper payrolls for the past few years. Recently they changed to online pay statements (pdf format). Would it be ok to scan the old paper payrolls into pdf format and discard them? In short, will I ever need original paper payrolls in future during H1 extension, 485, GC processing, as long as I have scanned copies of them?

Keep them and also have a scanned version.

scanned copies are used  for all the filings. Full color scans saved as pdf should work.

yes. scan them... and you can discard.. most have PDF ones.
