mantrala
I live in CA and my I-94 has expired in Aug 2014. I have a valid US Visa and I-797 (Issued in 2011) until Nov 2014. For getting my I-94 renewed, visited USCIS, SFO. They asked me to travel by Air to Mexico/Canada, as my H1B extension is still under process. I read in forums to go to San Yisdro to get I-94 renewed. Is that a safe option? Feel free to mail me at *************@yahoo.com/ call ************** Thanks, Suresh Link to comment

itsmeusa
If your H1b extension is filed before expiration date on I-94, you don't need to worry. Your pending H1b extension gives you 240 days of stay beyond the expiry of your I-94. So you are safe if your H1b extension is filed before I-94 expiration date. You don't need to exit / enter.
