Is I-824 required for stamping in canada ?

Hello,

 

One of the benefits of I-824 says:

 

To notify a different U.S consulate or port of entry of a petition/application approved by the Service Center (other than the one listed on the original filing).

 

Initially while filing for extension, I requested for consulate in India. I got my approval with I-94 attached to it. Now, can i go to canada for stamping ? Should me or my employer file a I-824 before that ? Can someone with recent canada experience answer ?

While the approval notices say an I-824 is needed, it is not actually used when applying for a nonimmigrant visa stamp. The information about the approval is stored in the centralized PIMS system, accessible to the consulates. The individual is expected to bring the approval notice etc.
