H4-EAD - home based business

Hi,

I am writing on behalf my friend who has H4 EAD.She is now doing a job and she wants to start a home based food catering business.

Now my question is

1. can she start the business along her job?

2. one of her friend who is in H4 visa can she help her sometimes as a volunteer ? Does she need food handlers license?

From an immigration standpoint, she can do  the business. She may or may not be able to do it one the side in addition to her other job. Companies nowadays often have clauses in their contracts that require company approval of side businesses.

Her friend on H4 (no EAD) can NOT work for the business, not even as volunteer.

Businesses that handle food usually have to get a license from the city. She should check the city website.
