Sister-in-law filed false 498A in India

My older brother has filed for a divorce. Now, my sister-in-law just wants to take revenge on us and for that she is abusing 498a. She has accused that my brother, parents, me & wife used to demand money from her for my higher education, which is entirely false as I took education loan and also used my fathers savings for my education here. 

 

Our lawyer in India is looking into it but I wanted to know what precautions should I take to avoid any complications over here. ME and my wife are currently in USA and we were planning to visit India in May but it seems that is not advisable now. 

 

It's really weird how this law is abused and I'm not sure how it is going to affect us here. I would be really helpful if I can get some heads up regarding how I should proceed about it.

It is advisable not to plan any trip home (atleast for some time), till lawyers figure out how to proceed or reach some middle ground.

 

You will not want any arrest going into your record.
