Salary Low But Employer Wants to File H1B

Hello All,

I am employed as a Computer User Support Specialist, mostly doing Customer support and troubleshooting. I make around $40,000 per year, which is $5000 lower than Bureau of Labor Statistics's mean salary in my state. Employer is a local government and never filed an H1B. They want to file for me.

Is it wishful thinking to get an H1B at this salary and position? Any one had experience filing with a lower-end salary?

Thank you!
