Applying for EAD while on sabbatical from current job

My husband holds an L1 visa and we need to travel to US shortly.

 

I had a question and was wondering if the experts can help me here:

 

1. It is legal to apply for EAD if I am on sabbatical from my job back in India.

2. If yes, once I get an EAD in US, can I continue working with the same employer from US.

3. Will sabbatical raise additional questions during visa interview and increase chances of rejection of my visa?

4. What duration of sabbatical is recommended in such scenarios.

 

It would be of great help if I could get any guidance on this.
