Applying I 485 for my spouse

Hi,

 

I have got my I-485 recently and would like to initiate I-485 for my spouse (who is in USA on a non-immigrant visa). My spouse's non-immigrant visa is valid till July/2017. I understand that I need to file I-130 first and wait for the PD to file I-485. 

 

Would we able to process her I-485 prior to the expiry date? Can she continue her stay beyond July/2017 if her I485 is in progress?
