I-693 filing question

I understand that we need to file I-693 with our I-485 application, and it has a validity of 1 year.

My PD (06/2010) is current (just for filing the case & not for the final action) as per the current visa bulletin and I know that it will take more than a year to get the visa number available and so my I693, if I file it now, will become invalid & will generate an RFE.

my question is:

1. can I file my I-485 now without I-693, & file I-693 at a later date (ideally just before (3-4 months) my PD gets current ?

or

If I don't file my I-693 now, do I have wait until USCIS generates an RFE?...

Thanks!

hello prashant

lot of people have same question...im also in the same boat.

after giving lot of thought I thought of sending 693 now..with this there would be only 2 scenarios..if final date becomes current before 1 yr, it will be approved else after 1 yr there will RFE asking for new one...

if u dont send rfe now....uscis could issue an rfe now itself asking for it....and again if it crosses 1 yr, there would be one more rfe asking for latest 639.

not sure if my thought process is correct.

thank you.

My PD is June2011 and I am still doing I693. In all likeliness mine will go waste but did it anyway, suppose RFE is issue later due to validity all I need to do is spend 300 to get the new forms, atleast I don't have to respend on shots.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes, I think sending I-693 would not hurt, except you lose the money you spent on getting it done for you & your family which probably can run close to a thousand.

I am in 2 minds as my lawyer is asking me to send I-693 while my friends lawyer is asking him file it at a later date (we both have PD's around same time).

I will probably go with what my lawyer is suggesting.
