travel after submitting 485

I am in the process of applying 485, but I have to travel October 1st week out of country. I have valid H1B.

 

Can I submit my docs for 485 and travel without the RECEIPT NOTICE? Or do I need to wait for the receipt notice from USCIS? I do not plan to use AP for travel

I-485, i guess is employment based. Yes you can travel if you are not applying for AP. You can apply for one when you are back based on your I-485 receipt. USCIS mail is not forwarded so make sure that you have someone collect your mail or update your mailing address with USCIS
