change of status on H1B

Hello friends,

 

I need information regarding change of status. Recently my H1B has been approved but I did not receive a  new sevis number with updated I94.

 

What is the process I need to go through?

 

1) Does my H1B will be effective from this october?

2) Do I need to do change of status immediately if not will my H1B will be effective from coming october or will it be on hold until I go for change of status and activate it ?

3) If I want to change my status after three months will that be possible ?

1. If your H1B I797 has an I94 attached to it then it is effective from the validity dates mentioned in I797.

2. If I797 does not have an I94 then to activate H1B you will need to exit and enter US with a valid H1B visa and I797 on or after Oct 1st.

3. Change to what status?
