H4 EAD while H1B extension is pending

Hi I have I140 approved and my H1B extension (6th year) was filed on May 15 which is still in pending status. 

 

I did not apply for my spouse H4 EAD as USCIS advised in its FAQ to hold on until the extension get approved. Can you please advise if I should file H4 EAD while my H1B extension is still pending or wait for approval? My current petition expires on Sept 30. 

 

Also thinking of converting the H1B extension to Premium Processing as not sure how much more time it would take in general processing.
