f1 visa got rejected regarding my old passport

hi this is vamsi i made a small mistake but it costs me big time..under name correction i have applied for new passport back in 2008(just 10 days gap between old and new passport).they told me i don't need to carry the passport.after that i went to london.i have been there for 3 years all of my stampings are in new passport.somewhere i lost of my old passport(which was not useful for me anyway).so the mistake i did is in ds160 form under have u ever lost or stolen passport previous before section i mentioned like i lost my passport while travelling..so they interogate me(1st time visa)..i was disappointed and then i realized i made a small mistake they asking me any proofs related to my old one but unfortunately i haven't got any proofs..this happened in 2nd time visa interview too(they treat me like i lie to them)..there i told them under name correction i have applied for new one back in 2007 but somewhere i lost of my passport..i gave them my genuine answers but they keep asking me any proofs..now i went to passport office and request them so they gave me my first passport scan copy(front and back page).so does it work for me or not ..pls help me out with any suggestions

Still you have an issue. You should have registered a police complaint when you lost passport. Having a scanned copy proves that you previously had a passport and not that it was lost.

i haven't carry that passport and left it in my home in 2007 after went for visa interview(in 2014) i was searching for passport in home and i haven't found it.going for visa interview again in next month..so i really don't understand what to do now..can i give police complaint now?

the thing is i never thought about it till f1 visa interview..then only i was searched for it and i couldn't find it..what should i do now
