Hi All,

This post is just to help those planning to go to Ottawa for stamping in near future. I had interview at 10am. I reached at 9.25am, Security asked me come back in 15 mins. I reached after 15 mins and they let me in.

As soon as you enter they will check your documents(Passport, Fee receipt, DS 160 confirmation and I 797). They will ask you to go thru security scan(Metal detector). If you have watch/Cell phone they will take it and store it in a locker. You can pick it up when you leave.

You will be asked to move to window to check in. At check in they will check same documents again and take your finger prints(ten Printing). People are very nice and friendly here. I had pretty good conversation with the lady at window about Ten printing and she was always smiling and responding nicely which took away my nervousness before interview.

Once Finger printing is done, all of your documents will be given back to you and you will be asked to stand in line and go for interview to any of the available window.

At the interview.

I: Good Morning. How are you?

VO: Good.

VO: Can i have your PP and docs please.

I: handed over PP, DS160 confirmation and I 797

VO: What company you work for?

I: I work for XXXX.

VO: What do you do for the company?

I: explained my job duties in brief. She was listening to this carefully and even asked me some abbreviations i had mentioned while speaking.

VO: You had US visa before?

I: Yes.I had Student Visa as well as H1 visa before.

VO: Oh so this is extension?

I: No. This is new Visa. I changed my company recently.

VO: What is your salary annually.

I: My annual salary comes to about XXXX. (I said comes to about XXXX because I get paid Hourly in case she asks for Pay stubs)

VO: Why did you change the company, just better opportunity, better pay?

I: Yeah, Better Pay.

VO: You Visa is approved. You will get email when to pick up PP.

I: Thank you Very much. Have a good day.

It was really easy interview. Not a single document was asked but better to keep all docs with you. Always tell the truth and be confident. Staff is really friendly and will not make you feel nervous at all. I was out in 45 mins in total.

No update on Passport yet. Hopefully it will be available for pick up in 1 day or so. My general experience was it takes two days after interview for passport to be picked up. For Tuesday interview I am hoping for Thursday.

Hi,

I have not got my passport yet. I emailed consulate and they said "your visa is approved and awaiting printing process". I am not sure what is the cause of this but I will just have to wait it out. I will update you when I receive any update.

Thanks!

Hi,

I got my passport today. I got status update yesterday (09/14) that Visa is issued. I went to Loomis same day evening(5.45pm) to pick up passport but they didn't have it as it was still on delivery truck. The guy at loomis asked me to come back in the morning at 8am and it will be ready for pick up.

I went back in the morning today (09/15) and picked up the passport. Ready to fly back to USA now.

I hope my experience helps others who are planning to come to Canada for Visa stamping.

Thanks!
