indiantroy Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Greetings fellow forum members! I just started the process to obtain a J1-waiver and while filling up the affidavit form I ran into questions maybe because the forms lack clarity and instructions in how we are supposed to fill up the fields. To provide some details about myself, I came to USA in August 2011 on H4 visa and then got converted to J1 on 01-April-2013. My J1 was sponsored by University of Colorado. While applying for J1, I showed proof of financial support through my spouse's income. Initially I was not paid for one year till March 2014 while working as a J1 research scholar and then I got paid by the University starting from March 2014. Now there are some questions in the affidavit form particularly related to question 1 that I am not sure how to answer: 1. I came to the United States of America under as an Exchange Programme Student for the period from ___01/04/2013 to ____Till Date__. The Exchange Programme was sponsored by the Government / Agencies of the Government of University of Colorado, Denver and financed by the Government /Agencies of the Government of __ Self Financed Till March, 2014 & Partially Financed By University Of Colorado from March 2014____. I have answered them as above. But I have some doubts as follow: I didn't come to USA on J1 but H4 in August 2011 but I got converted to J1 on 01-Apr-2013. Should I mention the start date as 01/04/2013 or 08/08/2011 when I actually came to USA under H4. Also I am currently on J1 so what should be the To date? My J1 was not sponsored by Government of India or Government of United States or any agency of the governments. It was sponsored by University of Colorado, Denver. What should I write in this field? Is my current answer correct? My J1 was sponsored by University of Colorado, Denver but was not financed by University for 1 year so I had submit proof of financial support through my spouse while obtaining J1 and then while filing for J1 extension I was paid by the University but it was not good enough to meet minimum required funds so I had to again show the proof of financial support through my spouse. Can I say I was Self Sponsored all the time in this case? What should I write here? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
