girish.sh Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Hi, I need to stamp my H1b Visa which was expired in 2010 end. Last time when I went to India for H1 stamping was in 2009 and I was working full time. My visa was stamped with no issues but at port of entry they held me for interrogation for 4 hours. Visa officer at port of entry asked me who was my first employer (it was a small consulting company) and after checking the employer name she sent me to this room where lot of other people were waiting and getting interrogated. I guess may be my first employer was blacklisted or something but I'm not sure. In the waiting room two officers called my name and took me to this room and asked me questions that if I had a project in US when my first employer called me to US. They said we know everything and don't lie to us. I told the I wasn't aware of the project and my employer had told me that I will be working on a project but I don't know which project. They said I don't have any project and I a entered illegally. I couldn't argue and they said accept it that you didn't have project and it was not legal. Then they asked me to wait outside. After an hour or so they called me and said you are clean and can go. But this officer also told em that this time we are letting you go. I got so scared and may be that's why I didn't go back to india in 5 years. No to india and now my mother had a surgery and i feel I should go to india and take this risk. Now I was wondering because of they ight create problem for my visa stamping again? May ne officer at port of entry has written something in my profile that would create issues? I am really confused what to do. Now I work a good consulting firm and working for a direct client and have all the paperwork. Has anyone faced same situation before? Can anyone suggest? I'd appreciate. Thanks
premkalyan521 Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Dear girish what was ur port of enter location where u been asked to wait for 4 hours. Try easy POE like dallas , Houston
rahul412 Posted September 8, 2015 Report Posted September 8, 2015 Don't worry, just stay calm and answer all the questions honestly. These ppl at POE sometimes try to act smart. You don't need to be scared or get tensed. This is just a routine check for them.
