What do they look for in a H1B holder's bank statement for H4 visa stamping?

I hear you need to carry bank statements of the primary H1 visa holder for H4 visa stamping in Chennai US Consulate. That too for 5 years! What do they look for in a bank statement for H4 visa stamping? While I have had steady paychecks in my account deposited, I usually have near zero balance in that account after bills and investments. Also, the past 6 months or so, I have two checking account into which my pay check is deposited, split equally. Is carrying both the bank statements sufficient or will that Cause any issues

What you heard is a rumor. All that is required is a copy of your I797 and marriage certificate.
