Ishika_P Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 Hello All, I came to US on H4 and did COS to F1(current status) . I am graduating in December 2015 After applying for COS from H4 to F1 I received my I-797A(approval notice for COS to F1) form which states valid date from 01/21/2015 to D/S Question 1: What does D/S mean? My I20 states that student is expected to report to the school no later than 01/05/2015 and complete studies not later than 01/05/2017 Question 2 : If I don't apply for OPT then how long can I be on my F1 status? Please advise. Thank you for spending your time to answer.
JoeF Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 D/S stands for Duration of Status. It means that as long as you are studying, you are legal. The F1 has a 60-day grace period after graduation.
pontevecchio Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 D/S means Duration of Status as a student. You have 60 days grace after studies are over.
