H1b to L1 visa

I need to clarify the below scenario:

Currently 6th year of H1b visa (2 months left for visa to expire) and green card in process.

If the company transfers to L1 visa now and green card application is withdrawn, can the green card be applied later?

What is the best way to deal with this situation?
