H1B - Leaving US (grace time after last working day)

Hi,

 

I am planning to leave US and to wind up the things i might need few days after my last working day (i.e. less than a week). Curious to know how many days can i stay in US after my last working day. If i stay for less than a week will this have any impact on my future visits to US. Appreciate if you could provide me some guidance at the earliest.

A week to two should be fine.

There is NO grace period for an H1. You are out of status from the layoff on.

If it is only for less than a week, it probably doesn't matter all that much.

If you need longer, filing a COS to another status like B2 is recommended.
