H4 Visa is valid and I94 expired

Hi,

 

There is a wiered situation for my dependents.

 

Recently they moved from India, however in their password they have two valid visa one was expiring on July 2015 and one on July 2016.

 

However while doing the port of entry my family did not realise and somehow the immigtration officer stamped the old visa with date of July 2015.

 

However we recently came to know about this and now we have a Valid H4 visa but I94 is expired.

 

What to do in this situation, do they need to go and visit back to India or they can go to local CBP office.

Apply for an extension of status using form I539 and supporting documents and fee.
