Renewing Driving License in CA when H1B extension is in progress

I'm currently live and work in New Jersey in H1B status. My current visa is expiring in 3 weeks, and in 2 weeks i'm supposed to move to another client in California. My company applied for Regular(not premium processing) H1b extension (ofcourse with new LCA). 

But My New Jersey driving license is expiring(in 3 weeks as per my current visa). I will get the receipt for H1b extension in another 1-2 weeks. H1b approval may take 2-3 months. 
But i need to drive with valid driving license until then. can i use my H1b receipt notice to get my License renewed in California? whether CA DMV accepts H1b receipt for license renewal?
