BPR Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Hi, I am planing to apply for a visitors visa for my brother who is in India and studying MD 2nd year right now. I want him to come to US visit the places here and spend time with us (for 1-2 months) and leave to India before he gets busy after his MD. So, want to know what are the chances for getting a visitor visa for him as I heard that visitor visa for foreign medical students are difficult to get through. Thanks, BPR.
JoeF Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 You don't apply for his visa. He applies. He needs to convince the officer at the consulate that he will return to his home country.
jairichi Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 Chances are almost zero as a visa officer knows well that a month or two vacation does not exist for an MD course. He can try though. And, by the way your brother applies for the visa and not you.
pontevecchio Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 Do you mean he is a medical student? If a resident he can certainly come over for the 4 weeks or so of vacation allowed . He will need a letter from his College/Hospital that he is a resident there and has leave sanctioned from X to Y. It is vital that you back off and not coach him in any way shape or form. There is no truth in the assertion that medical students, residents and Doctors have a tough time getting a Tourist visa.
