My H1 start on Oct 1st.I am on CPT , my current semester is ending by end of august. Next semester starts in September. Our school doesn't have any installment plan to pay fee. My semester fee is $5500( 4 months semester). I cannot afford that money for one month.

Is there any way to be on status with out paying fee or registering next semester?

We have 2 courses per semester, 3.0 credit each. I completed 3 semesters in this university. Will I be eligible for a break? or Is there CPT Cap - Gap?

Please advise

Thank you!

OP, in your earlier post you said your H1 was rejected bcos you used private college degree for approval and now you are currently working on CPT.

Let me guess, your H1 employer and CPT employer are both one and same,am I right?

You have a grace period of 60 days post completion of your study to exit US.

Since the OP is doing CPT, he obviously hasn't graduated. So no grace period exists.

And in addition, this looks like CPT abuse.

Hi,

I am not looking for CPT now. I still have 6 courses to finish this masters. I am looking forward to do it. Will I be eligible for a break?

JoeF: I have mentioned post completion of studies in my response.

In your earlier post you said "My H1 start on Oct 1st.I am on CPT..."

If you have 6 course to finish then why are you thinking about CPT now?

hi,

i totally understand your situation.  The other option is to go back to your home country at the end of August and get H1 visa (if needed) and enter the US before Oct 1st.  In this way, you will get 1 month vacation and you get time to spend with your family.

Your college DSO can provide details about taking a semester break.  Talk to your major professor and DSO about taking a break and finishing rest of credits later.

Ignore my previous answer.

Sure, you mentioned post completion, but the OP hasn't graduated. So no post-completion stuff applies.

F1 grace period and cap-gap are post-completion things.

There is no cap-gap for somebody who hasn't graduated, nor is there a grace period.

What I meant was after completion of studies OP has 60 days grace period.

And in addition, a stay on F1 during summer recess is only legal if the person is going to enroll in Fall.

What if I am on H1 by fall?
