H1B start date at a later time, can I resign at current employer

Hello All,

 

I am currently an H1B, employed by Employer A.

 

I got a job with Employer B. Due to my personal travel reasons,Employer B filed H1B petition such that the start date is on Aug 17th. The petition is approved.

 

1) Can I start with Employer B before Aug 17th as my travel plans are cancelled?

2) If not,  Can I safely resign at Employer A, 2 weeks prior to Aug 17th, such that I can start working for Employer B on Aug 17th?
