JohnF784 Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 My wife recently got her F1 visa stamped in India and is returning back to the US. The embassy however did not cancel her existing H4 visa stamp. When she is returning back to the US I am assuming at the port of entry, she just has to show the F1 visa, the i120 and supporting documents and the POE officer will grant her entry as F1 student ? Will her H4 visa be cancelled at POE ? How can we confirm that her F1 status ?
JoeF Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 She just needs to make sure to show the F1 visa to be admitted in F1 status. The I-94 shows the status a person is admitted into. Other visas should not be canceled unless they are expired.
jairichi Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 Yes, she can enter with F1 visa. Once you check her online I94 after her entry you will know on which status she entered. If her H4 visa is canceled then it will be written canceled across her H4 visa.
