Dogfish Posted July 15, 2015 Report Posted July 15, 2015 Hi Forum, My parents travelled couple of times to US on their 10 year multiple entry of visiting visa. Now that their visa got expired couple of months back, they want to renew to visit my brother who is a U.S. Citizen. So, please can some one tell me about the procedure to follow in applying for renewal in Hyderabad Consulate. Are they eligible for Dropbox facility or should they again attend for the interview? Also, please share links for this procedure. Regards, Dj
JoeF Posted July 16, 2015 Report Posted July 16, 2015 There is no renewal for a visitor visa. It is just a new application.
MurthyIndia_Lawyer Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 If your parents B2 visa was issued after August 1, 2004 but before January 2, 2008, there is a very high chance that they are eligible for Interview Waiver Program (IWP). Provided their previous visa does not have annotation, never overstayed on their trips and never received any U.S. visa refusal after their visa approval. The consular officer has discretion to call the applicants for personal interview after the personal biometrics appointment at visa application center (VAC), however we at Murthy Immigration Services has not seen cases where they were called in-person for an actual interview, except for non-transmittal of finger prints from VAC due to technical issues. For applicants who received the B2 visas after January 2, 2008 have high chances of Dropbox appointment where applicants representative can submit documents at VAC. The official visa information website of U.S. missions in India claims both IWP and Dropbox appointments as visa renewals.
