moulaali123 Posted July 10, 2015 Report Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks to this forum for being helping each other. My parents visited Hyderabad consulate requesting visitor visa (first time). Here is their interview : 1. What is your son's name 2. Where does he work 3. Why are going to US ? To see my son and daughter-in-law 4. Which city are you going ? San Jose Then they asked for my passport copy. I have kept my passport copy in large set of supporting docs. The docs are in a large envelope. On top of the envelope, I wrote "Supporting docs". I also mentioned the contents in the envelope. But mistakenly, i forgot to mention passport copy on the envelope (my bad!). So the VO thought i don't have passport copy. They rejected the visa. I was expecting them to give "221g". But they give 214b which i think means "intent to stayback in US". I am little frustrated now. Can someone help me clarify few questions : 1. Does it help to give some break before reapplying ? 2. Did it hurt my case as I am paying for their trip (vs self-sponsor) 3. For the next trip, i am asking my parents to carry : >> their house documents >> proof that they have two daughters in india (the other two children : me and another sister are in US) Anything that might help their case ?
jairichi Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 Your parents need to show strong ties to home country and that they intend to return. This can be done if they have documents of theirs and not yours.
moulaali123 Posted July 13, 2015 Author Report Posted July 13, 2015 Thanks Jairichi for prompt response. I was also told that it is best to say "I am going to visit places in USA" instead of "visiting my son and daughter-in-law". Does it matter if they are going to show home documents vs showing land documents ?
jairichi Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 Thanks Jairichi for prompt response. I was also told that it is best to say "I am going to visit places in USA" instead of "visiting my son and daughter-in-law". Does it matter if they are going to show home documents vs showing land documents ? There is nothing best to say. The truth. I have seen many cases where both of these answers led to approvals or denials. It is not same for everyone. VO would not like to see home/land documents. Your parents would need to get a document from a CA that shows a consolidated report of your parents' financial background.
rahul412 Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 I was also told that it is best to say "I am going to visit places in USA" instead of "visiting my son and daughter-in-law". Nope, they should tell the truth.
moulaali123 Posted September 29, 2015 Author Report Posted September 29, 2015 Thanks everyone. My parents got visa in second attempt :) It seems to be an issue with not having my passport copy in first attempt. I would have expected them to give 221g instead of 214b :) It caused lot of stress. Anyway. Here are some more changes we made in second attempt : > Carried photos of my sisters and thier families who live in india > Carried property docs > Marked all the docs in my mother tongue so that my dad knows what each of the doc is about. > Prepared well for all the questions multiple times. Good luck !

Manjil Gupta Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 My Father Visa got denied with reason 214b, i am planning to reapply- could you advise as what Text you entered under explanation field of previous history , where you need to answer whether you have been denied US Visa
JoeF Posted November 2, 2016 Report Posted November 2, 2016 First off, YOU don't apply. Your father applies. Second, HE has to fill out everything truthfully, and has to answer all questions truthfully. You need to stay out of it. Your attempt at coaching is probably one of the reasons why it was denied.
