saasha17 Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 Hello My H1B visa stamped in 2011 expired Sep 19 2014 and was from a previous petitioner. I received my I797 valid till sep 2017 from my current petitioner. Im going to India on Sep 12 2015. When I tried to book a visa appointment, the questions asked qualified me for a drop box option. So questions: 1. So the petitioner does not matter as long as the visa expired within 12 months and am applying for same class? 2. As the visa expired sep 19 2014, I should try to do the drop box before Sep 19 2015? thanks in Advance
skanthsri Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 Does anyone knew how long it takes to get Visa stamping through Drop Box process? do we need to go once to consulate for finger printing?
jairichi Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 Does anyone knew how long it takes to get Visa stamping through Drop Box process? do we need to go once to consulate for finger printing? Should be within a week after submission of documents.
skanthsri Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 Should be within a week after submission of documents. HI Jairichi, you mean to say if we submit documents by mail we need to be in India for sure within a week.
jairichi Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 HI Jairichi, you mean to say if we submit documents by mail we need to be in India for sure within a week. I do not think documents can be submitted by post. Either the applicant or authorized person had to drop the documents in person at VFS. Being in US one cannot send their passport for dropbox submission as US consulate knows that you are still in US based on I94. It is an offense to send passport out of country by post.
westindies Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 I don't think you can send the documents by mail. Either you or your representative need to go to one of the 11 locations in India and submit the documents personally.
