hbadger Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 Hi, I have filed I 130 for my sister in 2014. She already has a B2 - tourist visa (issued 2006) which she uses to visit her us and other family in the US. Her B2 is up for renewal next year. Wanted to check if she will have issues with renewal? She has visited the US around 5 times on the existing visa and has gone back well within the allowed time. She has enough funds, house, etc in India. Can we also use the drop box for renewal or does she have to go to a consulate? Thanks, hbadger?
jairichi Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 Once she has shown immigration intent by you filing an I-130 for her a B2 is almost impossible.
JoeF Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 In addition to what jairichi said, she may get into trouble at the POE when she enters with the B2. She risks being denied entry, due to having immigration intent.
pontevecchio Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 I suspect she will get her visa. Intent is a nebulous concept and decided by smart humans. Let us know if I am correct.
hbadger Posted July 14, 2015 Author Report Posted July 14, 2015 We filed in 2013 and she spent 3 months in US in 2014 - so no problem at POE. Keeping fingers crossed and hope there are no issues.

hbadger Posted February 9, 2016 Author Report Posted February 9, 2016 Her visa was issued without any issues. We did not even have an interview. Just drop box. People on the forum have to be positive and provide the right info - not pass unnecessary comments or say anything if they do have anything valuable to add. @jairichi / @JoeF (a valuable life lesson as well). Thanks for the support @pontevecchio
