Consider a non-immigrant was suddenly fired from a company and person's I797 and I94 is valid for another year.

1. Whether person is eligible to stay in US? 

2. If so, how long the person can stay without an Employer?

In addition, the company has to pay for your ticket to home country if they terminate you before petition end date.

You are "out of status" from the day that your employment ends. You are expected to leave the United States at this point. Nothing prevents you from obtaining an H1B approval with a different employer and returning. 

 

I would suggest that you focus your energies on finding a new petitioner to file an H1B for you as you prepare for departure.
