avst87 Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 My initial OPT got expired by May 13th. And OPT STEM extension got denied on June 17th. Now I am planing to change my SEVIS to new University (for Masters) to keep my status alive. I am aware that I have to do that within 60 days (before July 12th). However, the semester at the new college starts on September 28th. My question is, My international office people said that I have to transfer my SEVIS with in 60 days of OPT expiration, and I can join the college with in 5 months (October 10 th) after my OPT expiration date. As the college starting date is Sep 28th, they said that I can proceed with this SEVIS change and university transfer. Can any one please confirm me if the above issue is true. Thanks in advance.
livliv Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 That is probably correct. You need to start full-time from the first available semester/term.
