Change of Name while on H1b

I am on H1b and I have 2 years remaining in my H1b and visa. I am planning to change my   last name. Mostly for astrology reasons.

 

I have figured out the process to get a new Indian passport with changed name on it.If I get this new passport,

 

- Will my existing H1b be violated as-is? If so, Can I make an amendment for name change ?

 

- Will I have to go for visa stamping again with new passport ?

 

- Can I just travel to India with visa stamp on the old passport and re-enter with visa on old visa(old name ) and new passport ?, if so, Which passport should I use to book my traveling out and how will CBP tie my records of  traveling out to the old passport and old name?

 

-Can I change my name at the SSN and drivers license without updating the CBP records??

 

- Do I have to amend my I140 as well?

You are in for a lot of hassle. I would recommend changing your name on all the documents.

You would have to inform USCIS of the name change.
