hn2605
Need advise - USCIS taking forever for change of status - I-797 approval (H4 to J1) I have applied for change of visa status from H4 to J 1, 2 weeks back.. ( delayed due to some personal reason) my appreciation was successfully submitted on 22 May. .I do have a valid DS 2019 n receipt of I797..though approval of my J1 visa is still pending and hopefully should be getting it by end of July.. Problem is my employer says I wont be able to join the training and might loose the position if I don't get approval before july 1st week..they are ready to wait for a couple of days but not very long. Any advise on how can I expedite petition processing. . ? - Can change of status H4 to J1 upgrade to premium processing ? - Or Can I go outside US to stamp J1 (like student do J1/F1 from their home country), is it applicable on my case ? Please reply, any advise will be helpful. Link to comment
livliv
You should leave the US, apply for J1 Visa (preferably in your home country) and return in J1 status. You may also withdraw the I-539. It is highly unlikely that they will expedite the application by July 1st week. Link to comment
