Sind Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Hello, I recently had to take up a contract job because of a sudden layoff and the new consulting company/employer has asked me to sign a contract for 3 years. I have signed it given I had no other choice. Now I have a full time job offer and I would like to quit the consulting company. Could you please give an insight as to if signing a contract for 3 years would have any impact especially in the state of NJ. Thanks.
confessions Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 How could you sign it? 3 years is not a joke... Must be some desi company.. bull **** of these firms... In US employment is by will not by force so I am sure you will have a very easy way out but proper legal guidance is required. Get in touch with some good attorney and find the way out.

NJ and consulting firm, these two words are enough to say that it's a shady consulting firm(most of them).
livliv Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Yes, the company can ask for restitution based on the terms of the contract. Consult a lawyer with experience in immigration and labor law.
