vikramj Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 I am currently under the F1 OPT cap-gap extension. My employer had filed for H1-B visa for me and my F1-OPT status has expired as on end of April 2015. I haven't received any approval/rejection notice from USCIS on my H1-B application as on current date. I am expecting the rejection to come in a week or 2. My passport will expire in Feb 2016 and I want to apply for passport renewal before August 2015. What proof of current visa status can I submit in my case? Since, I haven't received any rejection, I cannot apply for COS. Since my OPT has expired, I dont have any paper proof of current visa status. I have already included a copy of my last I-20, EAD and I-797 (Notice of approval) documents. Please help me out. Thanks.
livliv Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 It is better if you wait for H1B decision. Why are you expecting a denial?
vikramj Posted June 16, 2015 Author Report Posted June 16, 2015 Yes. Official reject should come in this week mostly. I was just hoping someone would be in same boat as me. Indian Passport office for USA has been outsourced to some external agency which is utterly useless. Tried reaching them on phone which is always on wait. Mail response was vanilla scripted. I assume I cant do much but to wait.
